An Enemy of the People
For An Enemy of the People, I drew inspiration from Tokyo’s 2D Café, utilizing a grayscale aesthetic that highlights the stark themes of Ibsen’s play. The set features rough, almost Gothic sketches as part of the backdrop, creating a surreal, illustrated environment. Contrasting red furniture punctuates the monochromatic space, emphasizing the tension and moral conflicts at the heart of the story. This bold visual approach reinforces the play’s exploration of truth, power, and resistance, immersing the audience in a world as intense as the narrative.
