Set in 1930 St. Louis, the story centers around the Wingfield family: the hard-working writer Tom, his nagging mother Amanda, and his painfully shy sister Laura. The Winfields are stagnant in the past and struggle to move towards a brighter future. Still, a "gentleman caller" visit for Laura may be the event that changes all their lives. One of my personal favorite plays. In this production, we created the Wingfield apartment as written by Williams. Much of the walls were designed with white scrim and steel that we painted to look like the walls of the apartment so that when Tom talks about visiting the city, we could make the home fade away and showcase the brick structure of the city behind the set.

Next Item Previous Item Don't Dress For Dinner Written by Marc Camoletti / Directed by Dan Schultz / Scenic Design by Brandon PT Davis / Costume Design by Ashley Harrison / Lighting Design by Halea Coulter / Sound Design by Michael Burke / Okoboji Summer Theatre / 2013 Don't Dress for Dinner is in a restored French farmhouse about two hours from the city. The story centers around the married couple, Bernard and Jacqueline, who are having extramarital affairs. Bernard hopes to send his wife, Jacqueline, to her mother’s for the weekend, desiring a romantic weekend with his mistress, Suzanne. He also invites his friend Robert. Out of the blue, Jaqueline cancels her trip and returns home. Bernard is in a panic and is on a mission to cover his tracks through an overly complicated dinner. When I started designing this production, it was vital that we included the beam work in our scenery. I worked closely with the lighting designer and the technical director to ensure we could achieve the effect at the Okoboji Summer Theatre.
