For Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, I created a scenic design that reflects the classic elegance of a Bucks County home, the setting for this comedy’s familial tensions and unexpected transformations. The porch is the focal point, serving as both a familiar and subtly confining space where the characters navigate their conflicts. The design features traditional elements like a garden bench crafted from scrap lumber, adding an authentic, lived-in quality to the set that underscores the play’s themes of nostalgia, rivalry, and self-discovery.
