Abstract
The Pajama Game is a 1950s musical set in the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The story concentrates on the labor troubles the workers are experiencing in the pajama factory as they strike for a seven-and-a-half cent raise. During this event, an unlikely but profound relationship blossoms between Babe- the feisty firebrand committee head of the strike force, and Sid, the new superintendent. As exciting as their romance becomes, this couple's trials lie in the sides they stand on in the union protest. Adler and Ross' Pajama Game explores the tricky balance of love and values.
When working on The Pajama Game, we knew that the Choreography was to be showcased and that the musical had many scenes. When I was in a Production Design class, the instructor talked about graphic design being common in film. This inspired me and could simplify the scenes and create compelling signage for the changes in the locale.
